Date: 27 January 2017

Primus Attorney at Law Artūras Gutauskas is attending the Legal Experts Advisory Panel’s (LEAP) Judicial Remedies Working Group Expert meeting taking place on 27 January in Lisbon, Portugal.

The Working Group on judicial remedies was established in June 2016 following the initiative of the LEAP Advisory Board. The objective of this Working Group is to examine the judicial remedies available in EU Member States for violations of procedural rights, particularly in the context of implementation of the Roadmap Directives.

The Working Group brought together representatives from 21 countries. Coordination was provided by Fair Trials organisation. Fair Trials disseminated a questionnaire amongst all members of the Working Group with a view to gather input from representatives of each Member State. Representatives from 11 countries returned the questionnaire. The main findings of the questionnaires are summarised in a discussion paper and will be further analysed during the experts meeting.

Artūras Gutauskas is a lawyer member of the LEAP network in Lithuania, therefore he will make a presentation on national law and practice and how judicial remedies for violations of the right to access to a lawyer are applied and enforced by national courts.
